A Bridge Between Environmental Education and Student Filmaking.
Supporting Florida’s Ecosystem and Higher Education
Our mission is to foster environmental awareness and action by connecting passionate student filmmakers with local environmental organizations, creating powerful documentary films that educate, inspire, and mobilize people to protect Florida's natural heritage.
FILMS
Save Our Seabirds
A film committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured birds with the goal of releasing them back to their natural habitats. This is a short film sharing the lifelong sanctuary and specialized medical care provided for those birds that cannot be released. Their stories educate the public about avian conservation.
Sister Keys
A founding member and co-chairman of the Sister Keys Conservancy, Rusty Chinnis has dedicated his life to conservation through his work with the Sarasota Bay Watch Board, the Manatee Chapter of the Florida Conservation Association—now known as the Coastal Conservation Association; and beyond. This short film shines a light on Rusty's inspiring work with Suncoast Waterkeeper because, in his own words, "they are doing the critical work to hold municipalities and elected officials accountable under the Clean Water Act."
Surf
A short film that illustrates why microforests are important, shows the community participation associated with the planning and planting of a microforest, and raises awareness of the best places to plant microforests in the future.
Sea Turtles
A short documentary highlighting the projects and research done by MOTE Marine Laboratory to conserve and protect sea turtles, the issues that sea turtles face today, how human life affects sea turtles, and how people can get involved.
ORE
A short film highlighting historical evidence of the historical abundance of oyster reefs in the Manatee River, work done by ORE and project partners to develop a master plan for oyster restoration in the Manatee River, and results of oyster restoration efforts already underway.
MOTE
The Longboat Key Turtle Watch, a Florida non-profit corporation, has been a part of the Longboat Key community since 1969, when it was founded-- one of the oldest, continuously active, local community-based sea turtle conservation programs in the state of Florida. This short film highlights how Mote Marine Laboratory and LBKTW work together to monitor the habitat and hatching of sea turtles on Longboat Key and to educate the community regarding the protection activities needed to promote the continuation of the species.
